GENEVA, N.Y.--William Smith College seniors Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili/Scottsville, N.Y.) and Felicia Crump (The Lawrenceville School/Marlboro, N.J.) were recently named first-team All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The only school to have place two players on the first-team, William Smith last boasted two first-team All-Americans in 1991, when Ann Haggerty '92 and Lida Nassif '92 garnered first-team accolades.

The Herons finished the season 17-2-1, a single win shy of the school's single season record, winning the UCAA with a perfect 7-0-0 record. The Herons made their record breaking 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to the quarterfinal round for the seventh time since 1991.

The 2001 UCAA Player of the Year, Cornwell led the UCAA in goals against average and ranked second in save percentage. She started all 20 games for the Herons this season, boasting a 0.55 goals against average and an .863 save percentage. She posted a 17-2-1 overall record, while recording seven shutouts. In three seasons, Cornwell owns a 0.70 goals against average, an .859 save percentage, a 45-11-2 record, and 19 shutouts. She's a two-time first-team Regional All-American.

The 2001 NYSWCAA Defensive Player of the Year, Crump anchored the defense in front of Cornwell. She helped limit opponents to just 11 goals in 20 games this season. The three-time first-team All-UCAA selection also contributed five assists to the offense. Crump was named to the 1999 and 2001 Regional All-America teams.

William Smith is one of only 11 Division III schools nationwide to have two players named first-team All-American in the same season. Just three schools have accomplished the feat more than once, while only the Herons have had two first-team All-Americans in three different seasons (1988, 1991, 2001).

In all, William Smith has place 14 players on the NSCAA Division III All-America first-team since the program began in 1986, four more than any other school.
