GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year goalkeeper Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Conastota, N.Y.) was recently named the Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association. The accolade comes after helping the Herons garner their first two wins of the season this past weekend.

In the opening game of the annual Heron Cup, Dudley notched her first career win, pulling in three saves during William Smith’s 4-1 victory over Oswego State. The following afternoon, she made four stops and numerous other key defensive plays to post her first shutout with a 1-0 double overtime victory over 23rd-ranked NYU, earning All-Tournament Team accolades.

William Smith sports a 2-1 overall record and returns to action on Sept. 13, traveling to play 20th-ranked Denison University. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
