Falzarano named Player of the Week

September 17, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association has named William Smith senior midfielder Kristin Falzarano (Morristown/Morris Plains, N.J.) its Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. She led the Herons to a 2-0 record at the annual Heron Cup this past weekend, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Falzarano was the catalyst to the William Smith offense all weekend, scoring one goal and causing another. In the opening match of the weekend, Falzarano lifted the Herons to victory over the NYU Violets in double overtime with a perfectly hit shot into the upper-left corner. The following day, she gave the Montclair State defense fits with her speed on the flanks. That speed caused the Red Hawks to give up an own goal as Falzarano flew past the defenders hitting the shot the defender would eventually put in the net.

William Smith improved to 3-1-2 on the season. The Herons will kick off at noon, on Sept. 21, at Ithaca. William Smith’s next six games are on the road, returning on Oct. 15 for a home match against Nazareth.
