GENEVA, N.Y.—The National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently announced the 2003 Division III Women’s All-Northeast Region teams. William Smith led all schools with five players selected. Senior forward Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) and sophomore back Seraphine Hamilton (The Peddie School/Trenton, N.J.) headlined the group, collecting first-team honors, while first-year goalie Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Canastota, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Stephanie Gridley (Auburn/Auburn, N.Y.), and senior forward Stephanie Leveille (Ossining/Ossining, N.Y.) earned third-team accolades.

A 2003 All-UCAA first-team selection, Perrigo led the Herons in scoring with nine goals and three assists, including seven game-winners. She has been a clutch performer all season as four of her game-winning goals came in either overtime or in the last eight minutes of regulation. A 2002 All-Region first-team honoree, Perrigo was named the ECAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring the game-winner and assisting on two others to lead the Herons to a 4-1 victory over University of Rochester in the championship game. Perrigo finishes her career ranked third on the career assists list (25) and fifth on both the career goals (37) and points (99) lists.

Hamilton anchored a young back line that posted 12 shutouts and sacrificed just 18 goals for a 0.79 goals against average. Selected to the All-UCAA first-team, she tallied her first career goal in the Herons’ win over Skidmore. She added a pair of assists for a career-high four points.

The UCAA Rookie of the Year, Dudley started every game for the Herons and played all but 38 minutes during the season. She allowed just 18 goals for a 0.81 goals against average and posted a league-high 10 shutouts. Dudley was the only first-year represented on the All-Region squads.

A dangerous player on the flank, Gridley was second on the team with six goals and five assists. She netted game-winners against Clarkson, No. 18 Nazareth, and Skidmore, and assisted on the winning goal at 20th ranked Denison.

A physical presence up top, Leveille had a strong season, scoring six goals and an assist as the team’s third leading scorer. She tallied the game-winner in the Herons’ 1-0 victory over Geneseo that sent them to the ECAC title match. An All-State honoree, Leveille started every game this season and missed just four during her career.

William Smith finished the season 15-5-2 overall and captured the ECAC Northeast Championship with a 4-1 victory over Rochester. Recording her 20th consecutive winning season, Head Coach Aliceann Wilber has led the Herons to at least 15 victories in a season 12 times, including five of the past seven years.
