Gridley awarded Rookie of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association recently named William Smith forward Steph Gridley (Auburn/Auburn, N.Y.) its Rookie of the Week. The accolade comes after a stellar offensive performance by Gridley that led the Herons’ soccer squad to its first win of the season.
Gridley tallied three goals in her first home collegiate contest on the way to a 6-2 Heron victory over Oswego State. After falling behind 1-0 early in the game, Gridley tied the score after slotting the ball past the Lakers goalie. Just over one minute later, Gridley scored again to give William Smith the lead for good.
The Herons will be back in action on Sept. 14-15, when they host the Heron Cup. William Smith kicks off against NYU on Sept. 14, at 11 a.m., and again on Sept. 15, versus Montclair at 2 p.m.
