Herons shutout Bombers, 2-0

September 22, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.--The William Smith College soccer team scored two second half goals to hand Ithaca College (6-1) its first loss of the season. The win was the Herons' fourth straight.

William Smith outshot the Bombers 5-2 in the first half, but weren't able to take advantage of their chances. In the 55th minute the Herons' luck changed when junior forward Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) was awarded a penalty kick. The forward converted the kick for her third goal of the year to put William Smith on top for good. In the 85th minute, first-year Michelle Smith (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) put the game away, scoring off a corner kick by junior midfielder Kristin Falzarano (Morristown/Morris Plains, N.J.).

In goal, senior Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili/Caledonia, N.Y.) made four saves for her third shutout of the year. Sophomore goalie Liz Bishop (St. Joseph/Trumbull, Conn.) made 11 saves for Ithaca.

The Herons (6-1) are back in action Sept. 28, when they host UCAA foe Union College at 4 p.m.
