Herons No. 5 in NSCAA poll October 24, 2001 GENEVA, N.Y.--The William Smith College soccer team remains in the fifth spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III poll despite a 3-0 week in which it clinched the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association title and a record 15th straight NCAA Tournament bid. As they have been all season, the Herons are still No. 1 in the New York Region poll. The Herons started the week at RIT with a 3-0 win over the Tigers. Junior forward junior forward Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) led the team with a goal and an assist. William Smith wrapped up the league two days later, with a 1-0 win at Rensselaer. Junior forward Maria Paoff (East Syracuse-Minoa/East Syracuse, N.Y.) netted the game-winner on a cross from first-year Michelle Smith (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.). On Oct. 20, the Herons rolled over SUNY-Cortland 6-1. Perrigo struck for two goals, including the game-winner, as William Smith extended their winning streak to 12 games.
