Paoff named Player of the Week
October 8, 2001
GENEVA, N.Y.--The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association named William Smith College junior forward Maria Paoff (East Syracuse-Minoa/East Syracuse, N.Y.) its Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7. She helped the Herons to a 2-0 week.
Against Nazareth on Oct. 3, Paoff scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 come from behind win. On Oct. 6, Paoff scored the game-winning goal in William Smith's 1-0 shutout of Hamilton College. Paoff is tied for third in scoring for the Herons with three goals and two assists for eight points.
William Smith (10-1-0, 4-0-0 UCAA) returns to action on Oct. 12, when they host St. Lawrence at 4 p.m. Last season, the Saints edged the Herons, 2-1 in Canton.
