October 23, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Alyson Stachura (Pittsford Sutherland/Pittsford, N.Y.) was recently named the ECAC Division III women’s soccer player of the week after scoring five goals in the Herons’ victories over fifth-ranked Nazareth and 25th-ranked Rochester. William Smith, ranked 14th nationally, is 10-2-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the UCAA.

Stachura netted a hat trick, including the game-winner, in William Smith’s 4-1 victory over the Golden Flyers of Nazareth. Three days later, she tallied both goals in the Herons’ 2-0 win against Rochester. Her five goals and 10 points was more than double her previous total in the first 12 games of the season. She currently leads the Herons with 8 goals and two assists for 18 points after recording a goal and an assist in William Smith’s 3-1 win over RIT last night.

The Herons resume conference play on Oct. 25, hosting Vassar College at 4 p.m. William Smith will close out its UCAA schedule on Oct. 26, when they host rival Rensselaer at 2 p.m. The Herons currently sit in fourth place in the UCAA.
