GENEVA, N.Y.—The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recently selected William Smith College junior back Jenn Tibbens (Sherburne-Earlville/Sherburne, N.Y.) to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I first-team. She is one of four juniors represented on the first-team.

As a member of the first-team she will move on to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be released on Nov. 25. The student-athletes honored must be at least a sophomore, a starter or key reserve, and maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

A starter in all 17 games this season, Tibbens has helped the Heron defense post 10 shutouts, while giving up just 13 goals for a 0.74 goals against average. She notched her second career assist in a win over Oswego on Sept. 6.

A biology major and education minor, Tibbens has started every game for William Smith the past two seasons. With her in the lineup the Herons have amassed a record of 29-8-4, giving up just 29 goals, posting 22 shutouts, and advancing to the NCAA Semifinals in 2002.

William Smith (12-4-1, 6-1-0) will head to Union College for the UCAA Tournament on Nov. 8-9. Union and St. Lawrence will battle in the first game of the day at 11 a.m., while the second seeded Herons will take on third seed Hamilton College at 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Nov. 9, at 1:00 for the conference crown and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
