2 Herons honored by Liberty League

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith junior Shaila Pandole (Jai Hind College/Mumbai, India) and first-year Lori Stump (Shady Side Academy/Pittsburgh, Pa.) were named the Liberty League Women’s Squash Co-Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, this afternoon by the league office.

Pandole defeated Bowdoin’s Kate Gormley 3-0 (9-6, 9-8, 9-4), Wellesley’s Emily Oldshue 3-0 (9-0, 9-0, 9-1), George Washington’s Lexi Miller 3-0 (9-2, 9-2, 9-3), and Wesleyan’s Alex Loh 3-0 (9-1, 9-3, 9-1). Now a two-time Liberty League Performer of the Week, Pandole is 8-0 this season.

Stump defeated Bowdoin’s Susie Martin 3-1 (10-9, 6-9, 9-6, 9-0), Wellesley’s Ann Hsu 3-0 (9-1, 9-2, 9-0), George Washington’s Maggie Alexander 3-0 (9-0, 9-1, 9-6), and Wesleyan’s Maddie Rottman 3-0 (9-2, 9-2, 9-0). Already a three-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week selection, Stump is 8-0 this season.

The Herons (7-1) lost to the Polar Bears 6-3, but rebounded for 9-0 wins over Wellesley, the Colonials, and the Cardinals. William Smith is off until after the semester break. The Herons return to action on Jan. 21, when they host the University of Toronto.
