GENEVA, N.Y. --Two members of the William Smith College squash team recently were named to the Liberty League Women’s Squash All-Academic Team. Senior Alicia Sands (Miss Porters School/Lakeville, Conn.) and sophomore Katie Hendricks (The Shipley School/Haverford, P.A.). were honored this week for their academic and athletic excellence.

An art history major, Sands has compiled a 32-26 record over the past three and a half seasons. This year, she has helped the Herons to a 14-2 record, the most wins in the program’s seven varsity seasons.

Hendricks, an economics major, has posted an individual record of 11-6 thus far at the No. 1 position in almost two full seasons. This year, she helped the Herons earn their first Liberty League Championship.

Student-athletes from conference schools were named to the team based on the following criteria: sophomore academic standing, at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and on the team roster for the academic year.

The Herons return to action on Feb. 10, against visiting Cornell. Matches are scheduled to start at 7 p.m., at the Smith Squash Center.
