Brooks named Liberty League Rookie of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year Maddie Brooks (Westminster School/New Canaan, Conn.) was named the Liberty League Squash Rookie of the Week after leading the Herons to their first conference championship in squash.
Brooks posted a 3-0 record in the fifth position to help the Herons unseat host St. Lawrence as the Liberty League Champions. Losing just one game in her three matches, Brooks opened the weekend with a 3-0 (9-3, 9-6, 9-6) win over Monica Schwerin of Hamilton. On Sunday, she kept her record perfect, blanking Vassar’s Denitsa Pekova 3-0 (9-7, 9-0, 9-1) and dispatching the Saints’ Caitlyn Cimikoski 3-1 (9-5, 5-9, 9-4, 9-2). Brooks is unbeaten in four matches this season and has dropped just one game in those four contests.
William Smith is 4-0 overall and returns to action Dec. 4-5, at the Wesleyan Tournament.
