GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Sarah Coffin (St. George’s School/Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and first-year Maddie Brooks (Westminster School/New Canaan, Conn.) were honored by the Liberty League this afternoon. Coffin was named the conference’s Women’s Squash Co-Performer of the Week, while Brooks was named the Co-Rookie of the Week.

Coffin posted a perfect 4-0 record at the No. 2 spot over the weekend to lead the Herons to 3-1 mark at the Wesleyan Tournament. In the opening day of the Tournament, Coffin downed Anna Bullard of Connecticut College 3-0 and dispatched Bowdoin’s Emilie McKenna 3-1. On Sunday, she breezed past Susan Goldstein of George Washington 3-0 (9-0, 9-2, 9-2) and Wellesley's Wenjun Jing 3-0 (9-1, 9-1, 9-7). Coffin is a team-best 7-1 on the year.

Brooks posted a 3-1 record this weekend at the Wesleyan Tournament in the fourth position. On Saturday, she breezed past Cynthia Whitman of Connecticut College 3-0, but dropped her contest with Dodie Press of Bowdoin. Brooks bounced back on Sunday with a pair of victories, dispatching Bettina Scott of George Washington 3-1, and fought through a long five-set match against Wellesley’s Erin Hurson for a 3-2 (10-9, 9-4, 8-9, 4-9, 9-4) win. Brooks is also 7-1 this season.

William Smith boasts a 7-1 record. The Herons are off until after the holiday break. William Smith begins the New Year with four home matches in three days in the Smith Squash Center, beginning at 4 p.m., on Jan. 21, against Williams College.
