GENEVA, N.Y.—Two student-athletes on the William Smith College squash team recently were named to the 2005-06 Liberty League Women’s Squash All-Academic team. Senior Lee Lee Robinson (St. Paul’s School/East Norwich, N.Y.) and junior Serena Turner (The Taft School/Locust Valley, N.Y.) were honored for their outstanding efforts in the classroom and on the courts.
A three-year starter, Robinson sports a 4-2 overall record, playing primarily at No. 7. At the Mt. Holyoke Tournament, she breezed to 3-0 wins against Middlebury, Connecticut, and Wellesley colleges. A Dean’s List student, Robinson is an art history major.
Turner, in her first season in the Herons’ starting nine, has posted a record of 6-1 in the No. 6 and No. 7 position. During the 2005-06 Liberty League Championships, she won all three of her matches to help William Smith capture its second consecutive conference crown. Turner ended the fall semester on a three-match winning streak. This semester, she is in London, participating in the Colleges’ International Study Program.
To earn a place on the Liberty League All-Academic team, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically.
William Smith returns to action at 10 a.m. on Feb. 4, when the Herons travel to Cornell.
