Hendricks named Liberty League Player of the Year

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Liberty League announced its postseason awards for women's squash today and William Smith College senior Katie Hendricks (The Shipley School/Haverford, Pa.) was voted the conference's Player of the Year. She was joined on the All-Liberty League team by classmate Shaila Pandole (Jai Hind College/Mumbai, India), while sophomore Katie Baker (Westminster School/Oyster Bay, N.Y.) received honorable mention.
Hendricks led the Herons at No. 1, posting a 10-10 record, including a 5-1 mark against Liberty League opponents. She played her entire career at No. 1 for William Smith, closing out her career with a 29-20 record. A three-time All-Liberty League pick, Hendricks also was named to the 2006-07 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
A four-time All-Liberty League selection, Pandole was 7-7 overall, including a 7-3 mark at No. 3. The 2003-04 Liberty League Rookie of the Year registered a 32-17 career record. Pandole was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week for her efforts at this season's College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships.
Baker put together a 17-4 season, leading the team in wins and winning percentage. Playing at No. 7 (7-1) and No. 8 (10-3), she won her first five matches of the season, strung together eight consecutive victories in the middle of the year, and won her last three contest of the season. Over the past two seasons, Baker has compiled a 25-9 record.
William Smith finished the campaign with a 13-8 record. The Herons captured their second consecutive Walker Cup Championship at the CSA Team Championships to rank 17th in the nation.
