Pandole grabs top rookie acclaim; Coffin, Cruice also honored

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith first-year Shaila Pandole (Jai Hind College/Mumbai, India) was named 2003-04 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Year by the league’s coaches. Pandole also earned a spot on the All-UCAA first-team, along with junior teammate Sarah Coffin (St. George’s School/Bryn Mawr, Pa.). Sophomore Kinsey Cruice (The Lawrenceville School (N.J.)/Darien, Conn.) earned honorable mention.

Pandole boasted a 9-7 record in her first season as a Heron, including a 3-1 record against UCAA opponents. A three-time UCAA Rookie of the Week, she began the season with a 4-1 record playing in the No. 2 spot. Moving to the top spot, she finished off the year 5-4. She represented William Smith in the Holleran Cup of the College Squash Association Individual Championships.

Coffin played in both the second and third spots of the Heron lineup this season and earned an 11-6 record. Within the conference, Coffin posted an impressive 3-1 record. She also represented William Smith in the CSA Individual Championships.

Cruice finished out the season with a team-best 11-3 record playing in the third and fourth positions. She also recorded a UCAA record of 3-1. After turning in a 3-0 performance in the Walker Cup, she was named the UCAA Co-Performer of the Week.

The Herons ended their season with an overall record of 8-6. Against conference foes, they finished 2-2. They placed third in the Walker Cup, which earned them a 19th place finish in the Howe Cup national championship standings.
