Costanza named ECAC Division III Diver of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd-Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) collected her third weekly award yesterday, being named the ECAC Division III Diver of the Week. She also earned the Liberty League Diver of the Week and Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Co-Female Athlete of the Week awards.
Costanza had three first-place finishes and one second in the four events she entered during the week’s meets. She also posted three scores that qualified her for the NCAA Division III Championship meet.
In a win over RIT on Tuesday, she won on the 1-meter board by more than 30 points and broke the school record for six dives on the 3-meter board with an NCAA qualifying score of 267.4. Four days later at the Rensselaer Invitational, she won the 1-meter event by more than 15 points with another NCAA qualifying score (268.75) and finished second on the 3-meter board with an NCAA score of 262.7.
The Herons return to action on Jan. 26, hosting University of Rochester at 7 p.m., in Bristol Pool.
