Grossman captures Liberty League honor
November 15, 2004
GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Co-Swimmer of the Week after a pair of strong performances for the Herons last week.
Grossman turned in an excellent week, earning five victories, including three individual wins to help William Smith go 1-1 in a pair of dual meets. Against Wells on Tuesday, she captured top honors in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing 12 seconds ahead of her closest competitor with a time of 2:23.96. She also swam a strong third leg of the winning 400 medley relay team against the Express.
On Saturday at Alfred, Grossman gave the Herons the lead for good in the 200 medley relay with a 26.78 split on the third leg—two seconds faster than the Saxons’ counterpart. She also touched in first in the 50 freestyle (26.25) and the 100 fly (1:02.25).
The Herons hit the water again on Dec. 3-4, at the Liberty League Championships, hosted by Hamilton College.
