GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.) and first-year Meghan Mosher (Livonia/Conesus, N.Y.) were named the Liberty League Women’s Co-Swimmer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. This marks the second time this season Grossman has captured the honor, while it is Mosher’s first weekly award.

Grossman had an outstanding week, capturing four individual victories and two relay wins in a pair of meets. Against Ithaca on Tuesday, Grossman took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (25.58) and 100 butterfly (1:00.58). She also swam the butterfly leg on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:57.87).

On Saturday at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational, Grossman captured wins in the 50 fly (27.12) and the 100 fly (1:01.37) to help William Smith grab second place overall. Grossman also anchored the 200 free relay team that outraced its opponents by nearly four seconds with a time of 1:44.94.

Mosher garnered an individual victory, two relay wins, and three runner-up finishes in the Herons’ two meets last week. Against the Bombers, Mosher anchored the 200 medley relay team to victory (1:57.87) and took second in both the 50 free (25.98) and 100 freestyle (56.92).

At Skidmore, she captured an individual win in the 100 freestyle with a career-best time of 56.89 and took second in the 50 free (25.96). She also joined Grossman to lead the 200 free relay team to victory and its second fastest time of the year.

The Herons return to action again on Feb. 16-19, at the NYSWCAA Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse, N.Y. Diving will be held on Feb. 16, at 6 p.m., while the swimming competition is Feb. 17-19, with the trials beginning at 10:30 a.m., and finals starting at 6:30 p.m.
