GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith swimming and diving team posted a 127.5-91.5 victory over visiting RIT this evening in Bristol Pool. Junior diver Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) headlined the meet with a record setting victory on the 3-meter board.

Following a 240.45-209.20 win on the 1-meter board over classmate Becca Stevens (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Costanza bested her own record on the 3-meter board with a winning score of 267.40, 6.20 better than her previous mark set on Nov. 21, 2003.

Senior Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.) was also a double winner for the Herons, capturing the 50-yard freestyle (25.63) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.82).

William Smith might have had more double winners, but the Herons swam the final four events as exhibitions with the meet well in hand.

William Smith is back in action at noon, on Jan. 22, in the Rensselaer Invitational.
