Saxons sneak past Herons, 133-110

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team lost a close meet to visiting Alfred University, 133-110, this afternoon in Bristol Pool. Senior diver Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) won on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, posting her third NCAA Championship qualifying score in as many meets.

Costanza was nearly 50 points better than her nearest competitor on the 1-meter board. She won with a score of 246.75. The NCAA qualifying score for six dives is 245.

Sophomore Meghan Mosher (Livonia/Conesus, N.Y.) also won a pair of individual events. She placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.32) and the 100 free (56.87).

Junior Charlotte McIntosh (Blair Academy/Reading, Pa.) posted the other Heron individual win, capturing the 200 free in 2:05.76. McIntosh, Mosher, senior Kate Feller (Avon/Avon, N.Y.), and first-year Lynn Cutter (St. Gertrude/Richmond, Va.) accounted for sixth win of the day, taking the 200 medley relay in 1:57.66.

The Herons are off until Dec. 2, when they travel to the Capital District for the Liberty League Championships hosted by Union and Rensselaer.
