Herons compete in Liberty League Championship
December 4, 2006 GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team placed eighth out of nine teams at the Liberty League Championships, held at the University of Rochester over the weekend. Junior Meghan Mosher (Livonia/Livonia, N.Y.) and sophomore Lynn Cutter (St. Gertrude/Richmond, Va.) finished the 50-yard freestyle in 10th and 16th place, respectively, while first-year Charlotte Scott (Columbia/Maplewood, N.J.) took 15th in the 200 individual medley. In the 100 breaststroke, Cutter finished 11th with a time of 1:15.86, while first-year Laura Patterson (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.) followed five-tenths of a second later, taking 12th. Patterson went on to place 11th in the 200 breaststroke as well, with a time of 2:43.62. First-year Jessica Cook (New Paltz/New Paltz, N.Y.) earned a 10th place finish in the 100 backstroke, completing the event in a time of 1:06.13. In the 1-meter diving competition, first-year Sarah Gummoe (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) placed 14th, with a score of 233.80 points. The meet was the final event of the semester for William Smith. The Herons will be back in the water on Jan. 16 when they host RIT at 7 p.m.
