Herons place 12th at NYSWCAA Championships

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team wrapped up its 2006-07 season over the weekend at the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Championships. The Herons finished in 12th place out of 15 teams after accumulating 298.5 points.

In the final day of the NYSWCAA Championships, first-year Charlotte Scott (Columbia/Maplewood, N.J.), senior Charlotte McIntosh (Blair Academy/Reading, Pa.), junior Meghan Mosher (Livonia/Livonia, N.Y.), and sophomore Lynn Cutter (St. Gertrude/Richmond, Va.) had a strong showing in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in eighth place with a time of 3:44.87.

McIntosh and first-year Jessica Cook (New Paltz/New Paltz, N.Y.) both swam the 200 backstroke, finishing 11th and 15th, respectively. McIntosh completed the race in at time of 2:15.02, while Cook came in at 2:19.60.

Other top Heron finishers included Cutter, who took 11¬th place in the 100 free, and first-year Laura Patterson (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.), who finished 18th in the 200 breaststroke.

Liberty League rival Union won the NYSWCAA title, with Ithaca and Nazareth rounding out the top three. William Smith ends its season with a 4-4-1 dual meet record.
