RIT defeats William Smith, 142-94

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet tonight to the Rochester Institute of Technology, 142-94. The Herons drop to 2-1-1 overall in dual meets, while the Tigers improve to 4-3.

The Herons took both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays. First-years Jessica Cook (New Paltz, N.Y) and Laura Patterson (Annapolis, Md.), junior Meghan Mosher (Conesus, N.Y.), and sophomore Lynn Cutter (Richmond, Va.) came together on the winning medley team, completing the event in a time of 1:58.96. Senior Charlotte McIntosh (Reading, Pa.), first-years Rachel Johnson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Amanda Daley (Cohasset, Mass.), and sophomore Allie Donovan (Portland, Maine) were on the victorious freestyle team, recording a time of 1:53.72.

McIntosh also finished first in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 2:04.59, and took second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.70). Cutter had a pair of second place finishes, in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.84 seconds), and the 100-yard free (57.41), while sophomore diver Sarah Gummoe (Webster, N.Y.) came in second in the 1-meter diving with a score of 175.25.

William Smith will be back in the water on Jan. 20 when it travels to Troy, N.Y., to compete in the RPI Invitational at noon.
