June 17, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Liz Aumand (Massena/Massena, N.Y.) was one of 41 Division III student-athletes named to the 2003 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete team. CRCA National Scholar-Athletes must be sophomores, juniors or seniors who have rowed in at least 75 percent of her school's varsity races and maintained a grade-point average of at least 3.5.

During her career, Aumand helped the Herons earned a berth in the NCAA Championship Regatta twice, including a third place finish in the inaugural Division III event in 2002. William Smith also competed in the all-divisions championship in 2000. Additionally, she helped the Herons successfully defend the Seneca Cup—the annual race between William Smith and Colgate University—four times.

A talented two-sport athlete, Aumand also was a member of the William Smith swimming and diving team. The English and psychology major was twice named to the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Winter All-Academic Team.
