Aumand, Engst garner NYSWCAA academic honors

GENEVA, N.Y.—Senior Liz Aumand (Massena/Massena, N.Y.) and junior Lisbeth Engst (Christian Brothers Academy/Fabius, N.Y.) were recently named to the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic team.

Aumand is a jack-of-all-trades, competing in everything from the 50 butterfly to the 500 freestyle events this year. She qualified for the finals in the 200 butterfly at the NYSWCAA Championships this past weekend, while helping three relay teams make the cut past the preliminary rounds. Aumand was also named to the UCAA All-Academic Team this season and the NYSWCAA team each of the past two seasons.

A co-captain, Engst is the Herons’ top swimmer in the breaststroke events. She garnered a fourth place finish in the 100 breaststroke this past weekend at the NYSWCAA Championships, touching in at 1:10.29. She also qualified for the finals in the 200 breaststroke and helped the 200-medley relay team to a sixth place finish. Engst is majoring in psychology.

The athletes named to the team must carry a minimum 3.3 grade-point average from the previous two semesters. First-years swimmers are ineligible for consideration.
