GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Diver of the Week today. A four-time Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Diver of the Week, she won four diving events last week to earn her first ECAC recognition.

Costanza won the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions in a dual meet with Rochester on Wednesday, and captured the same two events at the five-team Skidmore Sprint Invitational on Saturday. Against the Yellowjackets, she won on the 1-meter board by more than 50 points over her nearest opponent, posting a score of 240.00, and on the 3-meter board she won by more than 25 points with a score of 248.55. At Skidmore, Costanza beat out 13 other divers in the 1-meter competition with a score of 242.35, and nine other divers on the 3-meter board with a score of 350.75.

Costanza has won seven consecutive diving events, dating back to the Rensselaer Invitational on Jan. 18. She broke the school and pool 3-meter record against RIT on Jan. 21, with a score of 251.85, and bested the old record (243.85) with both of her 3-meter scores this past week.

The William Smith swimming and diving team returns to action tonight, at Ithaca. The Herons are 8-1 in dual meets this season.
