Costanza also grabs RACA accolades

November 24, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore diver Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Ambler, Pa.), just hours after being named the UCAA Diver of the Week, learned she also had been named the Rochester Area College Athletics Co-Female Athlete of the Week.

Against Wells College on Nov. 21, Costanza broke her own school and pool records on the 3-meter board in a 110-79 victory over the Express. Her 3-meter score, 261.20, exceeded the NCAA Championship qualifying standard, and is nearly 10 points higher than her previous record, 351.85 set on Jan. 21, 2003. On the 1-meter board, Costanza also posted an NCAA Championship qualifying score, 263.60, just 2.5 shy of the Heron record.

The Herons return to the pool on Dec. 5-6, in the UCAA Championships, hosted by Union College and Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute.

RACA is an association to recognize the outstanding achievements of student-athletes from the 10 Rochester area colleges and universities.
