GENEVA, N.Y.—For the fourth time this season, William Smith sophomore Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Diver of the Week.

Costanza won the state championship on the 1-meter board and broke her own William Smith record on the 3-meter board at the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association Championship meet, Feb. 18-21. On the 1-meter board, she posted a winning score of 372.0, nearly seven points better than the runner up and just over eight points shy of the William Smith record. While a victory on the 3-meter board did elude her, a school record did not. With her third place score of 391.0, she eclipsed her own record, 390.96, set at last year’s state championship meet.

Costanza will find out on Feb. 27, if she is invited to compete in the NCAA Championship meet, March 11-13, in St. Louis. A national committee of diving coaches reviews tape of the divers who exceeded the NCAA qualifying standard during the season and invites 22, plus three alternates. Costanza has exceeded the NCAA qualifying standard several times this season.
