Costanza named UCAA Championship Co-Diver of the Meet

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd
Mercy/Ambler, Pa.) was named the Co-Diver of the Meet today at the Upstate
Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Costanza helped the Herons
to a fifth place finish in the nine team field by winning the 1-meter
event on Friday and turning in a third place showing on the 3-meter board
today.
Costanza captured her first conference championship with a winning score of 347.15 off of the 1-meter board, more than 16 points better than Rensselaer’s Melissa Hershey, who shared the Diver of the Meet Award with Costanza. On the 3-meter board, Costanza’s score of 349.30 was good enough for third place.
Other Heron highlights included: Senior Lisbeth Engst (Christian Brothers Academy/Fabius, N.Y.) placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.33. Engst also teamed up with sophomore Kate Feller (Avon/Avon, N.Y.), junior Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.), and first-year Charlotte McIntosh (Blair Academy/Reading, Pa.) to finish third in the 200 medley relay in 1:58.34.
