Familiar faces return to Herons' pool

August 3, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.–William Smith College Swimming and Diving Head Coach Kelly Kisner announced today the appointment of two former William Smith student-athletes to serve as assistant coaches for the 2001-02 season. Heather Frazer, a 1993 graduate of the College, will coach the divers, while Sandy Baldwin '01 will begin her fifth year with the team assisting Kisner with the swimmers.

A native of Dansville, N.Y., Frazer was an outstanding diver for the Herons from 1989 through 1993. The 1990 NYSWCAA Champion on the 3-meter board, Frazer consistently finished in the top-5 in both the conference and state championship meets during her four-year career. Following her graduation from William Smith with a degree in biology, Frazer was the diving coach at Nazareth College for two season. She also served in the same capacity for single seasons at Frostburg State University and William Smith, before returning to school to earn a master's degree in education from the University of Rochester in 1999.

"I'm very excited to welcome Heather back to William Smith," Kisner said. "She's an accomplished coach with outstanding leadership and motivational skills, and I look forward to working with her."

Frazer currently lives in Rochester and is a science teacher at the Palmyra-Macedon High School.

Baldwin, a butterflyer for the Herons during the past four season, will put on a coaches hat this season. A member of the 2001 UCAA Winter All-Academic team, she graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in geoscience. A native of Stanley, N.Y., Baldwin graduated from Marcus Whitman High School.

"Sandy is the epitome of what a student-athlete should be," Kisner said. "An excellent student and a hard-worker in the pool, I'm certain that she'll be an outstanding addition to our staff."
