June 26, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.--The William Smith College Swimming & Diving team is among the nation's best in the classroom. The Herons were one of 56 Division III teams honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America as an All-Academic Team.

William Smith posted a 3.12 team grade point average this year. Three Herons were singled out this season for their academic and athletic excellence by the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association. Senior Liz Aumand (Massena/Massena, N.Y.), junior Lisbeth Engst (Christian Brothers Academy/Fabius, N.Y.), and sophomore Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.) were named to the UCAA All-Academic Team for maintaining a GPA over 3.2.

William Smith finished the regular season with an 8-2 dual meet record and won the Skidmore Sprint Invitational. The Herons finished fourth at the UCAA Championships.
