GENEVA, N.Y.--The William Smith College swimming & diving team lost to Ithaca College this evening in its final dual meet of the season. The Herons did have a pair of individual winners: seniors Kelly VanGorden (Palmyra-Macedon/Geneva, N.Y.) and Melinda Fay (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.).
VanGorden captured the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.72 seconds. The All-American also took second in the 100 individual medley.
Fay won the 3-meter diving event. Her score of 175.55 was a season-high.
The Herons will be back in action February 20-23 at the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse.
