Herons win Skidmore Sprint Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.--The William Smith swimming and diving team defeated four other colleges to capture the Skidmore Sprint Invitational this afternoon. The Herons topped second place Vassar by 123 points (477-354).

William Smith boasted three double winners: first-year Sarah Costanza (Gwynedd Mercy/Amber, Pa.) captured the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, junior Lisbeth Engst (Christian Brothers Academy/Fabius, N.Y.) won the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke, and first-year Kate Feller (Avon/Avon, N.Y.) was victorious in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

The Herons also notched victories in the 50 backstroke by senior Cory Keipper (Pembroke/Corfu, N.Y.), the 100 butterfly by sophomore Becky Grossman (Mercersburg Academy/Penfield, N.Y.), and the 400 individual medley by first-year Charlotte Hoffman (Greenwich/Greenwich, Conn.).

William Smith captured one relay as well, with first-year Robin Coggins (Rumson-Fair Haven/Rumson, N.J.), Adrienne Brockway (New Hartford/New Hartford, N.Y.), Grossman, and Feller teaming up to win the 200 free relay.
