HILTON HEAD, S.C.--The William Smith tennis team improved to 2-0 on its spring break trip, defeating the Lady Vikings of Missouri Valley College 8-1 this afternoon. On Monday, the Herons defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 5-4.

Senior Molly Patterson (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.), senior Laura Maier (Lancaster Country Day/Reading, Pa.), first-year Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.), first-year Cory Turner (Canterbury School/Ridgefield, Conn.), and first-year Erinn Cain (Palmyra-Macedon/Palmyra, N.Y.) posted singles victories against Missouri Valley.

Patterson, Ware, Turner, and Cain are all 2-0 in singles play this week.

The doubles tandem of first-year Katie Campbell (Winchester/Winchester, Mass.) and Turner are also unbeaten. They posted the match clinching victory against the Prairie Wolves and won by default against the Lady Vikings.

William Smith (9-4) closes out its southern swing at noon on March 18, when the Herons square off with the Fighting Scots of the College of Wooster.
