Heron tennis grounds Flyers, 7-2

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team defeated visiting Nazareth College 7-2 in the Bristol Field House this afternoon. The Herons have won nine of the past 10 matches and improve to 12-6 overall, while the Golden Flyers fall to 10-7.
First-year Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) extended her singles winning streak to 13 consecutive matches with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Nazareth's Angela Tessoni at first singles.
Sophomore Cory Turner (Canterbury School/Ridgefield, Conn.), sophomore Katie Campbell (Winchester/Winchester, Mass.), and first-year Katie Compton (Loomis Chaffee School/West Hartford, Conn.) all won in straight sets at fourth through sixth singles, respectively, for the Herons.
William Smith wrapped up the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. Rauck and sophomore Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.), and junior Meghan Kelley (Norwell/Norwell, Mass.) and sophomore Erinn Cain (Pal-Mac/Palmyra, N.Y.) breezed at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, 8-1.
The Herons are back in action on April 16, when they travel to Skidmore for a 1 p.m. match.
