Herons compete in NYSWCAA Championships

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team closed out its fall schedule as it competed in the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Championships this weekend at Ithaca College.
Sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) competed in the No. 1 singles bracket and made it to the semifinal round, where she lost to Vassar’s Debbie Sharnak (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Senior Meghan Kelley (Norwell/Norwell, Mass.) fell to Vassar’s Kelly Graham in the quarterfinal round of the second singles bracket, while sophomore Sam Schraeter (Rye/Rye, N.Y.) lost to Hamilton’s Emily Poe in No. 4 singles (6-4, 6-2), and junior Erinn Cain (Pal-Mac/Palmyra, N.Y.) lost to NYU’s Katie Lee in No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-1).
