Rauck wins Liberty League award again
September 18, 2006
GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) was named the Liberty League Women’s Tennis Co-Performer of the Week for the second straight week. After just two weeks of play, she has already matched the number of times she received the honor during her first season with the Herons.
At first singles, Rauck won her only match last week, dominating St. John Fisher’s Laura Hale 6-0, 6-0. The win was the third straight for Rauck and ended a three-match winning streak for Hale. Rauck also teamed with first-year Shari Damon (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) to defeat the Cardinals at first doubles, 8-6.
The 2005-06 ITA National Rookie of the Year boasts a career singles record of 28-6.
William Smith (1-0) returns to the courts this weekend when the Herons host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championships. In 2005, Rauck advanced to the championship match of the singles bracket before falling to the College of New Jersey’s Christina Contrafatto.
