GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to visiting Skidmore in the Bristol Field House today. The Thoroughbreds, ranked 15th in the region, improve to 9-4, while the Herons slip to 5-5.

Sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) earned the lone singles victory for William Smith, defeating Danielle Fancher 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. Rauck improved to 15-3 in singles play this season, 31-7 for her career.

Rauck also figured into the Herons' other point, teaming with junior Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.) to defeat Fancher and Kate Hugo 8-2 at first doubles.

William Smith is back in action on March 31, when the Herons travel to the College of New Jersey for a 1 p.m. match.
