GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) was tabbed the Liberty League Women’s Tennis Co-Performer of the Week this afternoon, while junior Shari Damon (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) was named the Co-Rookie of the Week. The two led the Herons past Cortland 9-0 over the weekend.
Rauck won her only singles match last week, defeating Cortland’s Andrea TerBush at No. 1 6-2, 6-0 to raise her record to 19-4 this season and 35-8 for her career. Rauck also teamed with junior Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.) to win at first doubles over TerBush and Meg Cole 8-4. Rauck and Ware have won four straight at first doubles. This is the sixth time Rauck has won this award this year.
Damon also won her only singles match last week, defeating the Red Dragons’ Amanda McElroy at fifth singles 6-2, 6-7, 11-9. This is her second Liberty League award this spring.
The Herons will be back in action on April 25 when they travel to Ithaca for a re-scheduled match at 4:30 p.m.
