GENEVA, N.Y.—Two William Smith College tennis players were honored at the Annual William Smith Athletics Awards Banquet on May 1. Sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) earned the Mary Hosking Tennis Award, while senior Meghan Kelley (Norwell/Norwell, Mass.) garnered the Elizabeth Laird Redway Heia ’84 Tennis Coach’s Award.
A standout from Day 1, Rauck has been the top player on the team for the past two years. This spring she was ranked 11th in the Northeast Region, and led the Herons to a 9-7 overall record. Rauck tallied a 23-4 individual mark at No. 1 singles this year, and teamed up with sophomore Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.) to post a 10-4 record at first doubles. A seven-time Liberty League Perfomer of the Week recipient, Rauck ended the season riding an eight-match winning streak, and won the A flight of the William Smith Invitational.
Kelley finished the season with a 13-10 individual mark, having played the majority of matches at No. 3 singles. Kelley joined forces with sophomore Katie Campbell (Winchester/Winchester, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles. The two recorded a 9-5 mark. Kelley leaves William Smith with a 42-41 career singles record.
