Liberty League Co-Performer of the
Week Tara Ware |
GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Tennis Co-Performer of the Week today by the conference office.
Ware posted a 3-0 mark at No. 2 singles last week, helping the Herons to a 3-0 week, including a 5-4 win over regionally-ranked Methodist. Ware defeated Greensboro’s Susan Harris (6-0, 6-0), Peace’s Anna Jane Hesmer (6-1, 6-1), and Methodist’s Leighton Bull (6-2, 5-7, 6-2). She also teamed up with Chelsea Rauck to defeat Lliza Bridgers and Hesmer of Peace at No. 1 doubles (8-1).
Since returning to the team in January after spending the fall semester in the Colleges’ study abroad program, Ware is 4-0 at second singles. She has the most career wins of any student-athlete on the team and is 31-13 overall.
William Smith is 5-4 this season and is back in action at 1 p.m. on March 24 when the Herons host conference rival Skidmore in Bristol Field House. William Smith was scheduled to play at Ithaca on March 21, but that match has been postponed until April 25.
