William Smith tennis drops match to Saints

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team dropped its spring opener at 24th-ranked St. Lawrence on Sunday, 6-3. The Herons dropped to 2-4 on the year, while the Saints improved to 3-1.
Sophomore Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio), individually ranked 16th in the Northeast region, earned a win for William Smith at No. 1 singles. She defeated SLU’s Kirsten Lannon (7-5, 2-6, 7-5), improving her record to 12-2. At No. 2 singles, junior Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.) downed the Saints’ Liz Karam (6-3, 6-0), while sophomore Sam Schraeter (Rye/Rye, N.Y.) defeated Teresa Rodriguez (6-3, 7-5) at No. 4 singles.
The Herons will travel to North Carolina over spring break, where they will take on Greensboro on March 12 at 1 p.m. They will also play Peace on March 14 and Methodist on March 16.
