Heron tennis matches win record

Coach Fishback

April 25, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.--As tennis matches go, William Smith's 9-0 victory over visiting Brockport was fairly uneventful. The Herons lost just six games in singles play and cruised through the doubles action.

The final dual match of the season was monumental in that it raised William Smith's record to 14-5, matching the school record for wins in a season, set during the 1991-92 season and matched by last year's squad. The victory also raised fifth-year Head Coach Chip Fishback's record at William Smith to 57-30. His 11.4 wins per season is the best by any Heron boss since the program began in 1970.

William Smith will close out the regular season on April 26-27, in the annual William Smith Tournament.
