Herons slay Red Dragons, 7-2

CORTLAND, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team got back on the winning track with a 7-2 victory at Cortland this afternoon. The Herons improve to 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the spring.

William Smith did not drop a single set in its five victories in singles and swept the doubles games to earn the win. Sophomore Laura Maier (Lancaster Day School/Reading, Pa.) sports the best record in 2002-03 at 15-4 in the third singles position.

The Herons return to the courts again on April 25, when they host Brockport State at the HWS Tennis Center at 5 p.m.
