Patterson named RACA Tennis Player of the Year

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Molly Patterson (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.) recently was named the Rochester Area College Athletics Tennis Player of the Year as voted by the area sports information directors.

An All-UCAA selection, Patterson finished the fall with an 11-3 record, playing all but one of her matches the No. 1 singles position. She is the first Heron to earn all-conference honors under sixth-year Head Coach Chip Fishback. Seeded 12th in the ITA Northeast Regional Championship Tournament, Patterson advanced to the Round of 16 before falling to the No. 6 seed. Over the past three seasons, she has amassed a career record of 45-22 in singles play for an impressive .672 winning percentage.

The William Smith tennis team posted a 7-3 record this fall in dual matches and placed fifth in both the UCAA Championship Tournament and the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament. The Herons resume play in the spring in Hilton Head, S.C., March 12-21.

RACA is an association to recognize the outstanding achievements of student-athletes from the 10 Rochester area colleges and universities.
